Finished about a month ago.. I used 1"black pipe with a union on the axle side and a coupling with a plug on the sledge side. 8lb sledge. In the freezer for the night... Really easy slamming them in. 30 min max each side... I heated the housing with gas on the inside prior to pulling the sleeves out of the freezer. 30 was After the dismantle, of course. I had a helper ---- I position the pipe in a 2x4 for holding to save my helpers hand if I missed with the sledge. I found the idea of the tool on YouTube but they used a flange at the sledge side....it broke... Thus the coupling and plug... Worked great!
