Default Nitro hammer in sleeve for D30

Hi, I'm on the point to get weld some EVO c-gussets and front lca skid on my D30.

I was wondering if I should put some Nitro hammer in sleeves in my D30 before to get weld the c-gussets, or if it will be possible after...?

On the long time, my plan is to get sleeves installed and get chromoly axle shafts, with some 4.88 gears and a front locker. But since I just bought a pretty good amount of part, I'm not sure if I can afford these sleeves/chromoly shafts for my D30 right now, and I was wondering if these mod could be made later once the c-gussets are welded, or if it will complicated the sleeves insertion...

thanks!

you will have no problem hammering the sleeves in later.

Im fixing to do the same on mine and Ive been reading around that it's possible to slightly warp the axle tubes and or inner c's when welding on the c gussets. Most people are recommending that you should do the sleeves first and then weld on the c gussets. Eliminates that chance of them being slightly warped from welding. The axle shafts themselves could be done later though. Good luck.

I did the Nitro Sleeves a few months ago (see my write-up in the write-up section). My install went pretty easy, but I've heard horror stories. As already commented, there is some possibility that welding gussets could create an issue. With the hammer in sleeves, you barely have 1/1000" to spare. If it were me, I wouldn't risk it.

That said, the sleeves are maybe $120 shipped. Why not just get them and put them in and be done? The anxiety of potentially being one of those people who hammer for 8 hours and eventually cut off what's left, just isn't worth it.

I don't see how welding C gussets would warp your housing in anyway. Poor installation of a truss, maybe, but not gussets.

Reading around on here, other forums, and looking all over the Internet there are several people who can't get their axle sleeves in after c gussets have been welded on. Who knows why. All I'm saying is the sleeves are inexpensive enough to buy and do them first just in case so there is hopefully no problems due to welding on gussets. I've had my gussets since May, and while I have had the money to get sleeves, I just ordered them a month ago. Waiting on Synergy ball joints now just so that I won't burn up old ones and have good ball joints in place when the lift and tires get installed. Sure I could've had a lift and tires by now with what I have spent on some parts but hoping to prevent problems I've read about before I have them and have the vehicle down and can't get to work.
