Newbie help. 35" tire on rear tailgate?
#11
Here is what I did.
I had the same tire. I had some of the cheapie wheel spacers (not adapters with bolts) that I used to push the tire away from the tailgate.
This was just enough to allow me close the tailgate, but because of the toyos true size, it fit snug resting on the stock bumper (when I had one).
Had that for close to a year until I upgraded and I saw no signs of damage.
Cant remember the size of the spacer (1/8 in, 1/2 in??) so you may have to test fit a couple.

I've had them backordered for about a month now. Go to the write up section and look for the tubing size you need to modify your factory bump stops until you get the daystar ones. I believe it's 1.5" OD if you go inside and 1.75"ID if you go outside the factory ones. But I'm not positive

And if that is the case, you'll be better off using the cheapie spacer vs a stack of washers.....x3.
Bottom line is that I mounted the spare out from the tailgate to be able to close it, but close enough to rest on the stock bumper.
