Default Newb suspension question!

So my RC 2.5" lift showed up today! Really excited to get it installed, but I'm a little worried that there's an issue with the shocks that RC sent me. All 4 shock were packaged fully compressed......is that normal? Here is a pic of one of the shocks, all 4 look the same. thanks for the input, cheers

Shipping shocks compressed is normal though your fronts should be different than the rears.

I have never replaced the shocks on my Jeep but on all other vehicles that I have replaced the shocks, they came compressed. Usually held by a wire that you cut before installing.

Are they not un-compressing after removing the wire/holder?

There weren't any retaining wires keeping them compressed. I can extend them all of the way out and fully compress them on my own. It takes some muscle to do it and there a good deal of resistance, but that doesn't seem normal to me, but then again, I've never actually held shocks before.
