Improper installation is what you need to watch out for on spacers. I have been running them on my Corvette since 1986 with out a problem, even when I brought it to the track. Follow the instructions to a tee. Even removing the wheels and checking the spacers after 500 miles or whatever your brand recommends.

very true.

I run custom milled spacers in the rear of my C5 Z06 so I could run a set of CCW's in C6 Base offset size. I had them made to my own specs being both hub and bore centric. Never ever had any issues.

Before I got my Fuels, I ran 275 70 18 duratracs with spidertrax spacers on stock wheels. They are also hub and bore centric, never had any issues.

As mentioned, install and torque properly, recheck after a few hundred miles. Make sure they are hub and bore centric (like spidertrax) and all will be fine. Or you can spend 3-4 times more and get new wheels.

I did similar on my 500HP (built 400ci) 1988 Trans Am GTA. I ran 2" spacers so I could fit fourth gen wheels. Never a problem with that and I ran them for 4 years before I sold it.

Looks good. I thought you said you had stock wheels?

I think the wheels I have are the same as stock.

Did you measure the backspacing and if so, was it 6.25"?

Edit: If you have extended rear sway bar links and 6.25" of backspacing I sure would like to see a picture showing the wheel and the end link taken directly from the rear.

Stock wheels are actually 6" backspace as they are 7.5" with 45mm offset.

Here are Teraflex extended rear links with 285/70r17 on 8.5" wheel with 5.2" backspace.

Here are the links mounted inward.

I ended up not using them at all and are just taking up space in my garage.

That's exactly what I expected to see. And I never measured mine before I dumped them but am pretty sure the backspacing is 6.25". A quick search turned up these.

My Jeep Wrangler JK: Largest Tires Can Fit On Stock JK Wranglers Without A Lift

So if those pics are from 5.2" of backspacing, just imagine where wheels moved another 1"+ inboard would put the links.

Maybe I'm missing something. Sorry if I am off base here.

The offset stamped into the wheel is 44.45.
