i have a slighty bent driver C and after trying to get out of being stuck a nice loud pop and crack happened, looked like someone threw a hand grenade in my diff.
and im not putting a 44 up front anytime soon and i need tires so its time to step down and be more responsible wheeling

I'm looking at this same thing and I'm wobblying back and forth between the Goodyear MT and the Open Country. I've been running the KM2's for 2 years and there about worn out.
My experience with the KM2's is that their very good off-road, they tend to chunk out a little bit, they are just OK in snow, horrible in Ice, and they run a bit small. My 35's are actually 33.5 - 34".
I like the rep of the Open Countrys, most of the people that I wheel with run them. The only down side of the Open Countrys for me is that they are very heavy when compared to the KM2's or MT's.
I am also considering the Goodyear MT Kevlars, they are about the same price as the open country's, run 10-15lbs. lighter per tire, and they have a good snow and Iced rating.

I've been contemplating the same decision. After 25K miles on the oriinal KMs, I was a bit dissappinted with the wear on the tread and how loud they are. Understanding that the KM2s are a different animal, I've decided to go with the MTR kevlars. Both this forum and guys I know tell me thy are great for wheelin, excellent in the snow and quiet on the highway. For, being this is my DD I need the best of all worlds.

Remington Mud Brutes
I know you did not ask about these, but I have had them for almost 10k miles and have been very happy with them. They have seen, mud, dirt, snow and lots of highways miles and I got 5 shipped to my door for less than $700.
