Default New MBRP Exhaust - Don't think I like it

So I just got the stainless steel MBRP cat-back system. I had listened to all the videos on uTube, and all the comments on this forum I could find - it seemed that the MBRP was the best one.

Well, it's just way too loud. And the drone when cruising along in 5th or 6th reminds me of a twin-prop Cesna. On deceleration it spits and pops like a rice-rocket.

I just took my brother for a ride in it (fellow Jeep driver), and he said it sounds like his old Isuzu truck that needs a new muffler.

I had it installed at my local muffler shop, and they seemed to do a very good job. I've checked for leaks - all the offensive noise does come out the tip, it's just too much.

I was looking for louder, and a nice growl, but this is overkill.

I don't suppose there's anything I can do to tame it a little...?

you got to be super anal or ULTRA sensitive to think that the MBRP is loud. just my opinion. I can't even hear mine on the freeway...

Well I'm not. This exhaust sounds like there's no muffler at all. But thanks for your kind words.

I had a very similar issue.

I agree with the recommendation of installing a glass pack in front of it. Be sure to get one 30" or longer. My shop first install an small 18" glass pack - did not do anything. Switched it out for a 30" and it was perfect!

Good luck

I don't mind loud . If you decide you want to get rid of it, drop me a line (as long as you don't hold it against me that I'm from Calgary)
