New LoD rear bumper question
Just installed mine this weekend, wasn't bad at all, one of the holes needed to be opened up a tad on the bumper and I had to purchase grade 8 hardware but it does look great and the tire carrier is good too.
One question I did have is torque specs. I tightened the factory bolts in the frame to 50 ft-lbs. The ones behind the hitch inside the bumper I tightened to 40 and the rest that go all the way through the cross member and frame I tightened to 35ft-lbs. I would have gone farther but the holes the washers rest against are large and I started to deform the cross member and washers so I didn't want to push it. I figure if the steel is deforming it is tight enough, not to mention there are 12 grade 8 bolts holding this thing in place. I hope those torque specs are sufficient for light towing and an occasional recovery.
The other option is to weld it like one of the members on here did or make a type of large washer out of 1/4" steel to spread the force over a larger surface area.
I know, I worry too much.
