New issue
I swear it seems this jeep all of a sudden is falling apart! I changed my rear brakes and rotors in attempt to solve a brake squealing issue. The old rotors were rusted in. After using a BFH to get them loose I noticed the inside has small amounts of fluid. I cleaned it up and finished up the job. Well today while dealing with a teraflex disintegrating puck issue I notice this. Guessing the axle seal is gone. I was wondering if by any chance the squeal and the drip could be associated? Any thoughts? I'm thinking of just replacing the whole axle shaft. Maybe a bent shaft is the cause of the squeal and also causing a drip since it's not seated correctly?

It could be axel shafts making the noise. Had same issue with my '07. Rear wheel was squeaky especially at certain speeds and got louder for a sec when pushed the brake then went away. Did a bunch of work to the brakes that didn't fix it just to find out I had a bent axel shaft.

Thanks for the input.you are making me feel better about spending the $$ on the whole axle shaft instead of just replacing the seal. Did you replace it with a OEM or did you upgrade?

I wish I was one of the few chosen one with the awesome 100k mile warranty. Unfortunately I am the second owner. Only 65k on it and I'm stuck with the bill.

You can find some videos on youtube about checking for a bent rear axle flange. If you find that to be the problem, and you decide on aftermarket, check both Ten Factory and G2. They have 10-year warranties and both will cover bent flanges. You should be able to find G2 for around $300, and Ten Factory closer to the $350 range.

It's been a while but I don't think either are pre-assembled. (Nitro's are, but not nearly as good a warranty) Pretty sure I saw that several of the site sponsors will assemble them before shipping if you ask. Worth a call or PM, anyway.
