Default oooohhhh

it's bad with 3.73's. i could only imagine what it would be like with 3.21.

I would think 3.73's with an auto would be worse than 3.21's and a 6 speed.

So if I may ask. Im in the same boat as a few in this thread. I currently am running stock gears... not sure what that is. The tires Im on are 315 75 r17s. when I bought this the lift was already in, it is a MOAB industries 4 inch lift. My question is, I do believe it would be nicer to have new gears, and while Im at it.... put in lockers. So what is the stock gear ratio? I do have the 3.8L V6 and the automatic. with that in mind. Any suggestions?

2) Eventually I'm going to want 37's (this isn't my first Jeep :-). It appears that they will work with only a 3" lift as long as I am willing to mod my fenders... but with a 3" lift, modified fenders and an Unlimited with a manual trans, will I have to replace my drivelines?

A HEMI is in the plan for next year, so I don't want to replace my drivelines twice... which is why I may have to settle for 35"s for now. What do y'all think??? Thanks!

I have 4:10 35's with an auto and dont plan on a regear, but live in Ga. Would it get me thru a trip in moab prob yes. would i want to regear doing that kind of wheeling often? YES!!!!!! With the manual tranny and plans for 37's and a hemi, i would hold off untill that point to regear

I regeared to 5.13 (auto), but before I did, I had my 35's on for about a week. The 3.73 wasn't too bad really and I would think with a manual, it would be the same for 3.21's. It will do "ok", but certain situations will arise that you'll think, wow, I wish I had more torque! Good luck.

Oh, and I'm really happy with the 5.13's. Drives great. Still not a hemi, but good to go!

I just put 35s on last weekend and have 6psd with 3.73s. I hardly can tell the difference, maybe hold it in gear a few 100rpms more. Your 4.10s should be even better.

6th gear is just the same / useable as well.

I have 3.21s with 35s and its the absolute best combination ever!!!! I was always so bothered before with having to shift all the way into 6th gear. ugh, so demanding. And I love not having power, especially on uphills. It's so much fun to downshift and here the little 6-banger minivan engine purr!!

But for real, they are liveable. I can't wait to regear, but to me it's really not that bad. You should try it first and see what you think. It's not ideal, but it also isn't terrible.

The 4.10s will definitely get you through for now. Like you said, don't spend now only to respend in a year.

5.13 with 35s and a 6spd? That is a lot of gearing. Do you get on the highway much? How fast do you run?

I currently have 4.10 with 35s and a 6spd. Not bad in my opinion, but I do not use 6th until about 70mph. I see 4.56 in my future, but not a priority at this point.

I have not regeared my Rubi, but my buddy also has an 08 Rubi Unlimited with 35" tires and he had not regeared. I have driven it on road, and up to hwy speeds, and seen him on multiple trails and it runs just fine.

I came to the JK from a Dodge Durango with the 4.7 V8...have not seen a JK yet with that kind of performance so I had leittle expectation....I think you will be just fine. When my factory tires burn up I will replace with 35" and have no plans for gears....like my lifetime warranty! For any detractors...the guy at our local dealer says no worries for liftetime warranty with the tires...however, changing the gears would cause some issues...
