I took it off just to save the extra 10lbs LOL
Yes I think it muffles the sound a bit and In order for the muffler to dump befor the axle i needed to shorten it

On my 12 2 door soft top, I just took the rear muffler off but left the resonator. The exhaust pipe dumps just behind the rear axel and tucked up high. It sounded very deep and throaty without the dreaded droning. Best part is it was free. Just needed a 13 mm socket to loosen the clamp and if you don't like it then put it back on. I tried with my 14 hard top 4 door and it doesn't sound the same and drones pretty bad.
