New door hinge install
#21
I drive my Jeep all winter with very salty roads and my hinges look like the day I bought the Jeep ( other than a million stone chips from rocks ). I am diligent with the maintenance however. Wax them every couple of months, white grease between mating surfaces of the hinges and spray with rust check periodically through winter months.
I'm going the trouble-free route and installing the stainless steel. Your routine is too much work.

After some grief and a few cusswords, I finally got the Kentrol stainless steel hinges installed. A note to anyone that's thinking about it, change them over with the original hinges in place (doors on). When I went to take my doors off this spring, 2 of the oem hinges were seized and the composite bushings were coming out with the door until they wouldn't move any more, so I took the bolts off the body hinge half just to get the doors off. That was ok until I installed the new hinges and I struggled with 3 different adjustments to get the fit just right.
So, do it one hinge set at a time if you want to save some grief. By setting a floor jack with a block of wood to support the weight of the door you can easily change 1 set at a time without having to go through the entire adjustment procedure.
That aside, I'm glad to be rid of the bubbling, flaking crap that came from the factory. The rest of the Jeep will rust out, but these puppies will look good for a long time to come.
