New Carrier Suggestions

As noted a few times above, since you are looking at a carrier + spiders, a Truetrac might be a good call. Around $390 for the carrier/spiders? And $476 for a Truetrac through Eatons store on Amazon. Another $86 for a great traction device instead of that open carrier. (amazon also has a credit card promotion that gives $100 back upon acceptance, if that interests you)

This is from Quadratec
Note: Not for 2012-2018 Jeep Wrangler JK with Automatic Transmission

Yes, you need a front carrier for the 4.56 gearing as well. I actually made a mistake on the first post. I forgot that the way they label these carriers is kinda funky....even though the lower gear is a higher number, the carriers are labeled based on the numerical value not being higher or lower gearing, so you are wanting "and up". This should be the proper front D30 carrier.

I'll dig for the rear D44. Sorry for that misinformation. deleting that post and will add the correct info below.
Ok, this should be the proper rear carrier for 4.56 gears -

and these should be the proper spider gears -

Sorry about that. You can even lob a call into Yukon to double-check those part numbers.
I believe this would be the correct TruTrac if you want to consider LSD -

Back to the front D30 carrier, do I have to buy the spider gears also?

Depending on the website you visit, some will say this model # works, others will say it doesn't. Because... there are a few things going on with Jeep JK axles that are causing some confusion.
The JK has a new axle type that uses 'thicker' D44 gears. So instead of using a locker/limited designed for regular 4.56/4.88/5.13/5.38 gears, our d44 axles use a truetrac model for 3.73/3.21 gears.
Also, starting with the 3.6 JK's in 2012, there were some issues with auto-lockers in the rear axle on jk's with automatic transmissions. (this is full Locking differentials, like the Detroit locker. Not limited slips, like the Truetrac).
Lots of people are using that specific part number in their rear jeep jk D44 axles. Note that casamtb, who posted just before me, is running truetracs in a 2013 automatic...
So anyway, if that traction device appeals to you, talk to the Eaton folks and see if they can help clear it up for you. Or, maybe they will mention some other reason it doesn't work that I have not heard of?

It is worth double checking with the supplier, but I have not seen anyone report needing new spider gears when swapping between the d30 3.21 carrier and the 3.73+ carrier.
You can try checking your VIN in this link to see what gears your jeep left the factory with. It of course won't tell you if a previous owner changed them. (another note here is that my window sticker listed 3.21 as Standard equipment, and then 3.73 under Optional, so be sure to double check.)

The JK D30 has a carrier break between the 3.21 and 3.73 ratios. So if you are running 3.21, you have a carrier designed for only that ratio. If you are running 3.73, the carrier is good for 3.73/4.10/4.88/5.13/ 5.38 gears. (this is only for the d30, not the d44)

I also agree with nthinuf that I think the spider gears in your current carrier are reused in a new open carrier. Nothing inside the carrier there changes. If I recall it's about the flange the ring gear bolts to and the drilled holes (been a long time though since looked at that).

I moved from Las Vegas to Syracuse, NY recently and I don’t know any shop here, do you know by any chance any off road shop that can do the job properly?
Thank you
