Default New Carrier Suggestions

Hi everyone. I have a 2012 jk, my rear differential carrier is broken, (I need to replace the whole thing) I’m currently have a TF 3.5 lift and 35” tires, I was looking to regear with Yukon 4.56 front and rear
Any suggestion for the carrier?
does anyone knows a shop in Syracuse, NY
Thanks for all the help

So a new open carrier doesn't cost a whole lot. Are you thinking that you want to add some traction control like a limited-slip or a locker?

Couple questions. What gears do you currently have, 3.21 or 3.73? If you have 3.21 you definitely need a new carrier just due to the lower gears. If you have 3.73, are you sure you need the actual carrier or did you just blow up the spider gears in the carrier?

If you are going to do a regear then I'd suggest just letting the shop supply the appropriate carrier and spider gears if necessary. Usually letting them supply parts makes warranty work easier than taking them the parts where they install and then wash their hands of you. Sounds like you already bought the gears though. You need master install kits as well.

Thank you for all this info
The mechanic says that the rear carrier blows up, so I need the the whole thing, ( I’m not sure if was 3.21 or 3.73) I called him and he told me that the gear ratio was 3.0, (still confused but I have to replace anyway)
I was reading a lot of posts here the they recommended go with 4.56 gears due the lift kit and the tires that I have
I ordered already this kit
Yukon Gear & Axle (YGK012) Gear & Install Kit for Jeep JK non-Rubicon 4.56 Ratio https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00HSIU3EA...g=UTF8&psc=1(I believe the kit comes with everything except for the carrier

Im gonna check all the links that you sent me

Again thank you for all your help

Oh y, that package comes with the whole kt and kaboodle that you need there. If you're having to buy the carrier AND spider gears, I think it would be worth considering that extra $100 to add a limited slip back there. Little more money for a decent bit more function. It seems a lot of folks like that TrueTrac. I have never owned one myself but maybe someone else will chime in.

Oh, and 4.56 gearing for 3.6L auto + 35s is usually the sweet spot for most folks so you're right on track there.

Yes, you need a front carrier for the 4.56 gearing as well. I actually made a mistake on the first post. I forgot that the way they label these carriers is kinda funky....even though the lower gear is a higher number, the carriers are labeled based on the numerical value not being higher or lower gearing, so you are wanting "and up". This should be the proper front D30 carrier.

I'll dig for the rear D44. Sorry for that misinformation. deleting that post and will add the correct info below.

Ok, this should be the proper rear carrier for 4.56 gears -

and these should be the proper spider gears -

Sorry about that. You can even lob a call into Yukon to double-check those part numbers.

I believe this would be the correct TruTrac if you want to consider LSD -

Ill chime in on the trutrac. I have a 4.56 set up on mine and trutrac is the absolute best on the rear. Completely seemless. Always gobs of traction and absolutely not noticeable at all on the street. Worth every penny.

As noted a few times above, since you are looking at a carrier + spiders, a Truetrac might be a good call. Around $390 for the carrier/spiders? And $476 for a Truetrac through Eatons store on Amazon. Another $86 for a great traction device instead of that open carrier. (amazon also has a credit card promotion that gives $100 back upon acceptance, if that interests you)
