Default New Axle shafts with gear install

ive been searching on multiple forums including the internet. so far i havent had much luck. but i purchased 4.56 gears for my JKU Sahara to be installed last year. ive been busy and didn't get them installed yet. as a result im going to put an arb air locker in the rear and i figured that i would just upgrade my axle shafts to the 32 spline chromoly shafts. reason being that i dont feel that i need the the 35 spline.
i just read a posting about someone basically doing the same install but with 35 spline shafts. in his note he mentioned that he was unable to because the dana 44 rear axle housing differs on the sport and sahara models from those on the rubi housing and they cant be installed. so he had to switch back to 30 spline chromoly shafts. im not too familiar with this aspect of my jeep and any help would be greatly appreciated.

endstate: my goal is to install the 32 spline chromoly shafts with an arb air locker for now and later buy a rubi front d44 front axle with a locker as well

I may not be totally clear on what you are saying, but:

Non-Rubi rear axles use 30 spline shafts. Rubi rear axle shafts are 32 spline. They are not interchangeable, these housings use different carriers and different length shafts on both sides. The ARB locker that fits in the rubicon housing is the 35spline version, which requires the upgrade to 35spline shafts. For the non-rubicon rear 44, I believe the options are 30 spline or 35 spline. (at least I don't recall ever seeing a 32spline option for this housing)

Well 32 spline axle shafts are standard for a rubicon the rear shafts are different lengths also , one is about a inch longer
Than the other. Your carrier or locker has to be setup for the number of spline's on axle shaft you what to Run. So order
Your locker for 35 spline shafts....

i am aware that my jeep has 30 spline axle shafts. but a friend of mine mentioned to me that since i felt as though i didnt need to upgrade to the 35 spline, he told me that installing a set of 32 spline so that in the event of a failure in the axle it would be more likely for it to be the axle shaft vice the r&p and or locker. since its cheaper

If you are so concerned that running 35 spline shafts will make the R&P the weak point then go with 30 spline chromo shafts and keep the stock for spares.

i wasn't necessarily concerned, but that is what was recommended to me by a good friend who knows alot more about it than me. i just want to build my jeep right since im no longer going to trade it in on a hard rock edition

I agree, Was running 37s on my sport 30 spline stock shafts with an E-locker. Stick with 30 chromoly and like he said you'll have spares. I doubt you'll ever need them though.

Your friend doesn't know what he's talking about. There is no 32 spline option for a Sahara. 30 or 35.
