Default New 5.38 break in and wheeling

My jeep is in the shop today getting 5.38s installed. I talked with the guys at the shop and searched here for info on break in. I understand the 500 mile "easy" driving, then fluid swap. My question is this:

I pick up the jeep Thursday, work all day Friday and then am suppose to go wheel Saturday. I don't plan on any crazy stuff just trails and puddles. If I keep the Rpms down will I be ok in 4lo, or should I skip wheeling all together???

Thanks in advance.

Thanks. I certainly don't want to damage the gears. If I can't wheel saturday then I won't. I was hoping to get some wheeling in before our first kid is born later this month. That's all.

The coating on the gears, will it come off before 500 miles???

Most manufactures recommend 500 miles, allows you to cycle the heating and cooling properly, and wear the coating off.... I changed my fluid after the 1000 miles my installer (Clayton offroad) recommended, did fluid was almost black... And the difs would get pretty hot during mellow driving. If you look at the attached pic, you can see just how dirty the oil got after 1000 mile break in, its trickling out the bottom. I took it super easy for the first 1000 and the gears look and feel great now.

But, in the end it's your call
