Default nervous about adding a snorkel

Hey guys, I've begun modding the JK and have a lift on the way. I want to add a snorkel to my Jeep but I must admit, I'm pretty scared about the install...

I've lurked and read many threads on various Jeep forums about the install but im still uneasy about cutting my hood and spray bombing the exposed areas. The snorkel looks so bad ass though!

Should i just install an intake and put on a hydro shield and call it a day? Or should i grab a pair and try the snorkel and hope for the best?!

Cutting your hood isn't so bad if you measure TWICE and cut ONCE. I don't have a snorkel on my JK, but I have cut hoods before on my cherokees.

Just make sure you put some touch up paint on the exposed metal after cutting to prevent rust, and you should be fine. An intake with a hydro shield will NOT prevent water from entering the intake if you ford water. Only a snorkel can do that.

I agree. Measure twice and cut once and it should be gravy

Yea have a buddy cut it. I wanted to make the first cut and I guess I didn't have it in me an I winded up scratching the shit out of the panel. Luckily the snorkel hides the deep gash perfectly

Haven't we been hearing that for about a year now? And when it comes out there will probably be a good six month wait.

That being said. The RR snorkel design is by far my favorite.

I hear you there my friend!!! So I jumped online and emailed them direct.. The tech said the entire thing went through a design change, so they had to stop production.. He also said that all the designs have been finalized and they are currently in production.. He told me mid next month.. So like you said, we will see them in 6 months

Nothing to be scared about if you are smart. Having the right tools are key! make sure you are prepared with the right tools to get started and everything will be fine, mask the entire area with masking tape, then put your template over the top of that and slipping would be VERY minimal. You will be ok just be smart about it
