Default Need urgent help - Spidertrax spacer bonded to rotor

Howdy!

I'm the middle of exchanging my Jeep's rotors but the spacers are stuck.

Already tried a rubber mallet, didn't move.

Tried to wedge a metal wedge between spacer and rotor with a hammer. It didn't move also.

Sprayed WD40 over the seam and inside but also did not help.

Any hints?

Thanks in advance!

You can try a little bit of heat on the Alum-steel interface, but be very careful not to warp anything.

Thanks! I applied more this time. Last time I just applied very few. It came out easily once I headed it up with the torch.

Finished installing and did a quick ride around the neighborhood to set the new pads and let them dig into the new rotor.

Everything seems fine.

I took photos of the steps and did a quick write up in case other forum members run into similar snags while changing the rotors and pads.

Glad I could help. The Aluminum will expand a lot more than the Steel when heated so breaking any bond between the two.

This I do not have spacers, but I make sure I apply antiseize (very little goes a very long way) between wheels and rotors every tire rotation, and rotors and hubs, when replacing rotors.
