Need help finding a post in a thread )tire hight and weight)
I am about ready to get my larger tires...up from the MTZ 35's
I cam accross a post that had the different weights of tires and I believe the actual helght in it however I never suscribed to it ast the time.
looking at the differences between 37s 38's and 40's although I am leaning towards the Pro-Comp 37 at the moment.
Could use some help finding it.
Thanks All
Brian

Far too often the lighter tire decision is made by the supporting myths and not the actual science. Certainly there are differences based on the weight of how much power is consumed to roll them, but it's relatively nominal. Better decisions are made when the focus is placed on what you want from sidewall strength, ride quality or sidewall flex.
For instance if you were comparing a 60lb tire to an 80lb tire the difference in rolling them would be about 6% in power. At highway cruise speeds, that's less than 3 additional horsepower to roll them on the highway flats. If you were drag racing that would cost you a little more than a tenth in a quarter mile, but since I would hope most haven't chosen their JK as a race car, I believe a lot more than weight needs to go into a tire decision.
