Default Need help!!! Bearings and axle shaft

the past few weeks i have a heard a chattering noise form the rear of my 09 wrangler, 2.5" lift, 22" rims. took it in a the dealer said both bearings are out and i may need a new axle shaft? what is the reasoning behind this? anything i can do to prevent it form happening again? PLEASE HELP.

If the axle bearing is bad, and the dealer wants to replace the entire shaft, either they don't want to take the time to remove and replace just the bearing, or the bearing is seized and took the shaft with it.

If the bearing went bad, you may not have had enough oil in the differential. You may have hit a rock or something while wheeling. It may have just been a bad bearing.

Hmm ok that seems to make sense to me because they said the fluid was a little ditry last time i was in, but its only have 30,000 miles on it! any reasoning on why this would happen if it were not the oil???
