Am about to swap my Rubiccon Express springs 3.5 to the Teraflex "6" coils... I was told i need Lower Control Arms Adjustable.. Right now i have the Rubicon express ones that are not adjustable... I need help from someone to tell me to what measurements i need to put the control arms..

I got JK 08, Fox Shocks 2.0 5-6inch ones.. with "37" tire...

At least i need a basic measurement where to start at....All help with be helpful... Thanks

 

At 6", you should probably be looking at longarms, not short. So just find the instructions for the TF longarm lift and follow the measurements they list.

 

i want stick at the short arms but adjustable,,, with the adjustable arms do u think that it has to be at least 3 more inches longer then the ones i have now correct? makes sense if the the purpose of the adjustable controls have to be longer then the ones i got now?

6" is ALOT of lift for regular arms. I doubt you'll find a spec for that cause I'm pretty sure no one makes a 6" short arm kit. You might not even be able to find short arms long enough? Not sure.

Your best bet will be an angle finder on the pinion to set a decent pinion angle. Castor is going to be really bad...

 

i was talking about the adjustable control arms to set a measurement,,, i do know for a fact theres no short arms for that type off lift.....

for example if now i have the control arms that came with the 3.5 inch lift set at "23" am guessing that i have to adjust the adjustable control arms to maybe "25" since am going with bigger lift....? what u think?

 

I would try 24" and take a pinion angle measurement. Assume you have aftermarket front driveshaft for this lift so you need to focus on pinion angle. Check it at 24" and see how it looks I think 25" will be too long.

You know this jeep is going to ride like crap, right? Castor will be crappy, ride will be jolting on short arms, it's just a bad recipe. Hope you don't mind some tough love, lol

 

Correct i do have aftermarket driveshafts front and back... right now i measure the control arms i got and they are set at "23" i will take your advice at "24" thanks a lot... maybe someone on the forum have it measure and can tell me what they have,,,

 

Pretty sure that RC has the instructions for their 6" shortarm on the website. It'll list the lengths they suggest. Or maybe you could figure it out with a math formula (A2 + B2 = C2 ?) Or grab a couple jacks and stands and lift the frame another 2.5", put a string or a straightedge down from the upper bumpstop to where the lower bumpstop 'should' be, then measure?

Since we don't know your background, as mentioned above, there are some other things to consider as well. If you don't have lockouts, the caster/pinion tradeoff at 6" might be interesting. If you don't have a flip, you might do some reading on them. If you still have stock driveshaft, start thinking about what you'll do when you find all the grease splatter. And check the brakeline and bumpstop lengths.


Just looked at RC's guide. They list 22 7/8" for the front lowers and 18 3/4" for the uppers. Shorter than what you're currently at for a 3.5" ?

Your gonna need adjustable upper control arms too to keep your geometry correct, well as close as you can for a short arms. Rock Krawler used to sell a 5.5" short arm kit but I believe they stopped because it's hard keeping the geometry correct at that height. Keep in mind you really should get a steering flip kit too.
