My TeraFlex 2.5 lift should arrive about mid-week. I've decided on an AT style tire (34-35 inch). Any suggestions on a good tire?

I've driven out West twice with Mud tires and I'm tired of the noise. Besides, at least at Moab, the ATs seemed to do as well as the MTs. So who can recommend a good AT tire?

 

Well of course there is the BFG all terrain which is pretty expensive but on top of the list in performance.

 

The best AT I have ran is the Pirelli Scorpion, great price and tire. I'm running Cooper STT's MT's right now though and these thing are very quiet and smooth. Do alllot of highway driving and very impressed with these. I have gone AT in the past because of noise/driveability with MT's but gotta say this tire is better than most AT's I've ran, including BFG's. Take a look at them, have also heard allot of good reviews on the Toyo's but have not run those other than the Proxos on my G35 and love em.

 

Yes. Get those.

 

Another vote for the BFG AT's and you should get tons of mileage out of them if kept balanced and rotated. I"ve run them on previous jeeps and trucks and got as much as 48K out of them. Even heard stories of people getting as much as 60K.

I"ve got to check into these as well, I want the MT but prefer something at least a little more quiet on the road.

 

BFG All Terrain vote from me as well. I've abused a set of those in the past and was VERY suprised at what they could handle offroad and did extemeley well in the snow, rain, etc....

 

JKman, I love the STT but have not pulled the trigger, because I do about 400 miles a week on the highway and the guy at the tire shop said this was a bad choice. Tried to steer me to an AT. What's your take on the STT as a daily driver as far as noise, gas mileage,and wear compared to th BFG's? Appreciate any input as I would love to have these if I thought I could get away with it.

Look at Dick Cepek FC II. I haven't wheeled with the yet, but they are great on the road so far.

 

Ditto on the Dick Cepek's. They are only rated at 35K miles, but they aren't very noisey at all and work great off road too...

 

Again a reccomendation on the FC II's. They are pretty quiet on the road and I have wheeled with them. Pretty decent AT tire.
