My two cents:

I have a 2010 Sport that had the 255/75/17 and went to 285/75/17 BFG all terrains. With mine on stock wheels, they rubbed on the front sway bar at full turn so I went with black MB-72's (17") wheels that had what Discount tire calls "-6" backspacing. It's a great black look and there isn't anymore rub! I also bought a terraflex leveling kit. Looks better and maintains much of the factory ride. Now just saving up for a bigger lift!

ok, I am set on the 285/75/16's. What would be the size to order in these wheels? The whole backspacing/offset/size is kind of confusing

or

I guess what I need to know exactly what numbers/sizes on the rims I need to look for

Bolt pattern - You need a 5x5
BackSpace - 5 maximum, but 4.5 or a bit lower would be better if you plan on taller tires in the future.
Width - depends. The tire mfg will list a recommended range in the specs. 8"-10" is fairly common, depending on tire width.

I've been very pleased with the look & handling of my Mickey Thompson Baja MTZ 33's on 17" KMC XD Misfits (see my avatar pic).

...great on street & off.

Sorry... had to download an app to rotate this pic so I could use it. Perhaps a better 'big picture' pic...

I went around pricing the 285/75/16's and these tire shops are trying to tell me that this size won't fit, even with aftermarket wheels. So frustrating. I think I need to call a 4x4 shop and see if they will mount them for me, if I buy them online.
