Question nail in tire...

leave it or pull it?

its in one of the lugs of my toyo op mt.

looks like a little one, but i dont know the true length. saw it the other day when i was leaving the post office.

low profiles would need a patch, or a full replacement upon finding a nail... as for the big meats, im in the dark.

i would take it out, if its too long it could be rubbing sidewall and completely ruin tire, maybe if its small enough you could just patch it, i just know that nails can wreak havoc on a tire if not noticed immediately

Get one that comes with a hard carrying case and alot of plugs. That way you can carry it around on the trail or all the time. It wont be the last time this happens.

yeap if you leave it in and wear the head down on the nail or screw it could cause the object to go in deeper and then start leak without notice

I prefer the ones with a metal T-handle. I have broken the plastic ones before. And if hurts just a little when they break I just had to plug a tire on my truck, it was an 8ply, so alot of force was required to ream it and then get the plug in. The hole was from a nail I didnt know I had. I went out to my truck and the tire was flat. It ruined my whole morning. So you are better off pulling it and fixing it now.

The cheapo plastic T handle ones you can find at most autoparts stores do work too, I just dont like using them for thick ply tires.

Here are a few links for the metal ones:

This one looks metal, but Im not 100% sure:
