Default Is my JK a ticking time bomb???

okay I got an 09' 4 door X, pro comp 4" lift with Rustys 2" spacers in the rear and 1.5" up front. Thats it as far as suspension mods go, I havent put control arms on or adjustable this or that or any of that extra stuff that I read about on here all the time. The thing is my jeep drives fine and I dont really see the need to start buying all that other stuff that are supposed to fix problems that I dont have. I am just worried that one day I am gonna be doing 80 on the interstate and somethings gonna go wrong and get me into real trouble. So if anybody has got any friendly advice it would be much appreciated!! oh yeah I dont wheel very often and when I do its usually just trails with a few mudholes, no rocks or bad rutts or anything.

What was included with the pro comp 4" lift (im assuming springs & shocks) anything else?

You asked for friendly advice, and that is the spirit this is given in: 80 mph is too fast.

If by ticking time bomb you mean t-case explosion, speed has always been the last ingredient in the recipe for disaster.

Its a pretty bare bones kit... Shocks, springs, extended sway bar linkages, and an extended rear track bar bracket.

why would that screw up the transfer case? Is it just not made to turn big tires fast or does the gearing need to be changed or something?

I thought your mention of ticking time bomb meant you were keeping up on the exploding t-case threads.

Vibration at high speeds will cause it to explode.

The recipe for disaster has been:

lifted
regeared
after market drive shaft on the front (double cardan at the t-case)
bad pinion angle on front axle
high speed

Kaboom!

It takes just the right combination, though.

I only meet lifted and speed out that criteria so maybe I am good.

Is ANY of that equipment adjustable? I find it hard to believe that your steering is so near stock if you only have non-adjustable equipment with that much lift. I have a hard enough time getting my steering geometry correct and I've got adjustable equipment

I guess because it's the 4 door you're definitely better off, but bumpsteer and driveshaft vibrations @ 70mph+ is a scary thought without the right suspension geometry. @ the very least I would invest in adjustable control arms.

It is suprising that your ESP isn't going off with your front axle shifted so far to one side because you don't have an adjustable front trackbar.

Your steering should be much more flighty than stock with a 5.5" lift on stock front control arms. It might be dangerous to let someone else drive your rig with flighty steering.

You should be experiencing bumpsteer-type feedback without steering correction. This could be dangerous if you hit a pothole at 80 mph if you overcorrect and roll it.

If your driveshafts, brakelines, or ABS lines fail while you are going 80 mph--that would be the ticking timebomb that could seriously injure you or others.

If your shocks fail, it will just ride like crap--unless the shock bar pins break while you are wheeling in a compromising situation.
My ESP light came on once when I took a sharp curve a little fast but it was because I was sliding around it(very scary to slide that big ole thing) I forgot to mention that I have a dual SS but I dont think it does very much. The only time it gets a little hairy while driving on the road is when I change lanes on the interstate, cause of the crown in the center, it gets a little out of shape and sometimes I have to have two hands on the wheel but other than that she drives good.
