Several different issues:
-The boot catches on the corner of the tranny, which rips the boot and can also damage the tranny pan.
-The skid contacts the driveshaft below the boot, causing lots of cool gouges. Haven't actually seen any posts of this causing anyone to lose the driveshaft.
-And the new angles from being lifted cause the joint at the tcase to pinch, which will wear through it, cause the loss of grease, dry out and seize

Post 6 in this one has some preventative steps with pics.

Get a superchip flashpaq. It helps out a lot.

Default Do it right, do it once

The best advice I can give you is to listen to all these people that are telling you to do it right. Don't do it unless you are fully prepared to do all the steps involved. While the lift kit and big tires look great, all the not fun stuff that is expensive like drag flips and trackbars and axles and gears and driveshafts and on and on and on are the important thing. Do it right the first time and do it completely. The result will make you more confident in your Jeep as well as much more knowledgable about it as a whole. Good luck and enjoy
