It sounds like you are pretty new to the game. If I were you....I would pick up a cheap 2.5 BB and stuff some Goodyear Duratracks (measure about 34") onto your stock wheels and run spacers. It will give you a good stance and do what you want it to offroad while maintaining good on road behavior. Don't let someone tell you that you need to send thousands on a long arm kit. Also when you lift over 3" you need to start to think about replacing/beefing up many other things. Oh yea and get a Superchip's Flashpack to correct your spedo and give a bit more power.

x2 on don't go over 3" or you will have to replace your driveline.
if you have an auto, go 2.5BB & 1" body. that way you get ~3.5" and you could probably stick 37's under it.
don't do a body lift if you have a stick.

and i would stay away from spacers and get yourself some wheels. (I HATE the stock wheels)

I have an '07 Sahara I put on the AEV Nth Degree 3.5inch premium lift. I have the 6 speed with 4.10 rear and a SuperChip. I put on a set of Trail grapplers 35x12.5 with spacers and stock Sahara wheels. The ride is excellent and the quality of the lift is top notch. The price from Northridge was reasonable and the service was great I couldn't be happier with the results.

Talk to David @ Northridge 4X4, he is very knowledgable and you can tell him what you wanting to do and a budget and he will do the rest.

The Rough Country 1.25" body lift comes with a shift adaptor to correct the short shift caused by lifting the body. Obviously if you have an automatic there are no worries either way.

It's a great addition to a 2.5" Budget Boost.

well today was the day that i got to call and find out more about the lifts that everyone recomended. I've made a few decisions...

I'm going to go with a 3.5 AEV primium lift from northridge 4x4
I am also going to gear up to 4.10
I have ordered a superchip performance chip.
I have ordered a rear bumper and snorkle through river raider
I am hoping to find a cage for my 4 door.
I am going to order 1.25 spacers.
and im going to buy BFGoodwrench 285's on my stock 18" sahara wheels.

I'm going to fab my own front bumper and winch plate and going to use a recomendations from the forum and add some insulation to the hard top. It's going to be awesome... progress pictures ar on their way

I did the 3.5 AEV on my 08 and am very happy with it. Did it myself in garage. Hands tools and drill needed.
