I did this mod for the front fenders this past weekend... The first fender I removed everything (fender, marker light, substructure, liner...)... but after understanding where everything was and fit together (and knew ahead of time what i could/should not cut), I was able to do the 2nd fender without removing anything (eg. removed the outer plastic rivets, disco'd/removed the marker light, taped, cut the fender through the liner with a angle grinder, then trimmed the substructure/liner where appropriate). The second fender was done in 1/4 the time of the first.

I started using a dremel, and realized after breaking a bunch of cut off wheels, that something a bit more powerful was in order :P Ended up using a dremel for where I needed to do precision cuts.

I think more jk's will be running around with cut fenders now. I wanted mine a little thin but never the less trimmed fenders just look better to me thick or thin.
