I have a 2015 and going 37's with 4.88 only because I had these tires from my 2011 jeep and maybe plan on 40s after these wear out.
4.88 won't cut it with 40s. I have a light 2-door and I went 5.38s and wish I could have gone higher. Also running a 4:1 transfer case. Looks like I will be adding a roots type super charger to get the torque I need at the low end.

I had 4.88s and 37s before. I'd say driving around town, my 5.38s and 40s feel like 4.10 on 37s. 4.88s on 40s would be like 3.21 on 37s. The rotating mass just kills it.

That's why I said maybe, probably wind up somewhere in between 37-40. Yours is the 3.6L right? Might wind up supercharging too, eventually.

If you want 4.10 gears, why not just buy someone's used take-offs? Heck, when I regeared mine from 4.10s, I gave the gears (and LSD) away.

Not trying to hack but what gear ratio for 40's then? 5.38?

I'm getting 18 mpg highway on 37's & 4.88 gearing. What mpg are you getting on 40's?

Just noticed I quoted the wrong person... d'oh!

No worries. That's good to hear about the gas mileage, hope I get the same.

My 2011 had 5.13 with 37s and got like 13 mpg

5.38 for sure. You know, I guess I don't know my current MPG. Since my build has been done, I have mostly been off-road. It is north of 15 mpg for sure though. Helps that I have a D60 front and roll with the hubs unlocked. I believe that is good for about an additional 2 mpg right there. I have a small issue with my tank that I have to fix before I can fill it all the way. Once I fix that this weekend, I'll keep track of it when I fill at the pump. Just remind me in a few weeks for an update. Shoot me a PM or something.
