I don't know what type of steel they are, but the tips are definitely different material then the rest of the muffler and coated with something else. They are also discoloring rapidly on top of the rusting. They are coming off today and going in the trash. I just hope this prevents other people from buying this exhaust.

A personal note to pelle31,,,, sorry if i offended you with my post,, it was meant to be a joke,, hence the little guy rolling and laughing. I hope you got it and weren't offended. I too have ridden M/C's my whole life and know the history of the founder of mulisha. I have no experience with their jeep products, and hope you find a solution soon. Signed, with zero animosity,,, Dave

I pulled the tips off yesterday. The pipes are scratched pretty bad but its not noticeable unless you look under the jeep. Honestly, it looks better without the giant tips sticking out the back, and the sound is slightly less obnoxious. I wish i just left the damn things off when i installed it in the first place. Oh well. I emailed the company a few days ago but got no response. The warranty pretty much covers them from responsibility from every angle, so i think my fight might be useless unless more people are having the same problem and complain to them about it. The most i think they would do is send me another set of those crappy tips so it can happen all over again. I'll pass.

I heard this setup a week ago and I thought it sounded great. Anything else sound like that without the issues the Gibson is having?

That's unfortunate about the rust. I'm not sure rust is enough to change my mind.

I would like to know if the metal mulisha exhaust is identical to other standard dual Gibson exhaust, besides the tips. I can't tell the difference in sound from listening to youtube clips.

Any experts on this subject?

I'd call Gibson. They shouldn't rust and I think they are ceramic coated stainless.
