I always thought better flow more hp? So if I want to get more hp and or performance what do u do? I was told that throttle body spaces don't really work? Does cold air induction work? Confused??

A programmer would be best for inexpensive power increase. But a forced induction is best! Either supercharge or turbo the 3.8. You won't regret doing that!! I have my supercharged and it's killer now

I paid $70 for my dynomax off of summit a while back. Had a local shop weld it in line and deleted my rear muffler. Cost me like $150 said and done.

I paid about $100 for my Borla ProXL muffler and paid another $50 for install. One of the most quiet performance mufflers you'll find and probably one of the best as far as air flow.
It's true that some dynos I've seen shown poor performance from certain aftermarket mufflers. But I don't think any free-flow muffler would be worse than the stock muffler on a Jeep. However, you may notice a slight decrease in low end (low RPM) torque with a free flow exhaust due to reduced back pressure. Higher RPMs show increases in HP and torque, however.
I'm waiting to hear more on the Dynomax VT muffler that has the valve in it. I'm curious if that valve creates some needed back pressure at those lower RPMs that many of us desire.

In my opinion the best thing u can do when when switching mufflers is to relocate it. Maybe u wont notice any real increase in hp but at least u will have the piece of mind that u wont hit it and break it or even worse blocking its flow over some rocks. I went with the flowmaster super 44, the sound is mild to loud. I welded it inside the frame rails toward the front of the evap canister so that the rails would act as a muffler skid. I retained the stock tail pipe just added about 20cm of pipe toward the end so that it exits from the left side of the bumper. The end tip was cut in an angular way downward so that it alligns perfectly with the rear bumper again to protect it from rocks ( u cant see any exit tip from behind). If u want any pictures of the setup i will take some
