Default Mounting New Shocks Question

I originally put a RC 2.5" BB on my JK. Nose sat too low with new bumper and winch. Took out front spacers and coils, and put in OME 3" coils. Am upgrading to Bilstein shocks today.

The RC BB kit had an extender for the front lower shock mounts. The Bilstein shocks are for a 2" - 3.5" lift.

Question: Do I mount the Bilstein shock to the RC BB lower shock mount extender, or do I remove the extender and mount the Bilstein to the factory lower shock mount???

I've got the RC BB so I know the parts you're talking about.

The front bottom shock mounts are easy to get at and undo. Why not leave the extenders in, install the shocks and see how it looks. If it's too high just undo, remove the bracket and re-install?

BUT, I'm thinking they might be alright without the bracket, if anything they might just limit your flex a little bit. If they're stuffed in there too much they might not have enough travel to do their job.

I have the OME HD springs and Bilstein 5100 shocks also and I mounted them directly to the stock locations. No problems and ride is great.

Shocks don't set height. With the longer shocks I would think leaving the extenders in would cause them to "top out" under full compression.

I don't even have a lift yet so take my opinion with a grain of salt.
