Mopar tranny coolet
#11
On one install I did for a club member I didn't have to add any fluid at all. On mine, I was installing the Mopar cooler in place of a B&M style cooler I'd installed a few years earlier. Since the earlier install had involved cutting the return line at the flex hose I decided to replace the line set with the newer (post-recall) ones at the same time I did the cooler. I had to add about 1/2 quart once it was all done.

Are you referring to the oem cooler they claim is for towing? I believe it's the same one that comes in the 2012's and up. That's what i did and while mostly useless it not that difficult. The hardest part is removing the transmission lines to swap in the new piece. There's a special tool for that. Also there is a plastic dam or something that comes out as well. Removing the grill and bumper are a must.
Although the kit instructions suggest the Jiffy Tite 3/8" quick connect tool be used to separate the cooler lines, you can just pop off the plastic caps with a screw driver, then use a small pick tool to remove the wire retaining clips. I've done it both ways and had no issues either way. Reinstalling the lines is just a "push til it clicks" routine.

The bumper does not have to be removed, just the grill. When you see the way the stock trans cooler is located below the A/C condenser, behind the front bumper & crossmemeber, basically out of any air flow, you wonder how that design ever got past an engineering review or long term testing.

Got it installed. PITA IMO Ronjenx...was there an issue with the line on the driver side rubbing against the frame on your installs? Looks too close to me.

It's a very straight forward install. Highly advantageous to get the recommended jiffy Tite 3/8" quick release tool for the cooler lines. You can release them with a small pick tool, but the Jiffy Tite tool makes it very easy. Mounting it is a snap. You need some sharp shears to trim the lower cooler shroud.
You saved me from buying that Jiffy Tite tool that I would likely never use again. Pep Boys didn't carry it so I bought a pick set which would be much more useful in the future.
Thanks and thank you to everyone else that chimed in. This forum rocks. 🍺
