Mopar lift kits, anyone?

I have seen the long-arm on a jeep at my dealership. From what i understand the only difference from the RE lift is the spring rate on the coils. It is a great kit, but really pricey since it says Mopar on it.

According to Mopar's own literature, ANYTHING from the Performance parts listing is Not covered under warranty, at all.
From another thread on this same subject:
Interesting blurbs from the Mopar Perf. Catalog:
Quote:
All Mopar Performance lift kits are comprehensive and include
everything needed to package larger tires. They are engineered to fit
and function with all vehicle systems including Electronic Stability
Program (ESP) and provide excellent on-road ride and handling as well
as increased off-road performance.
*P5155207 Lift Kit, 2" Lift, 2007-09 Wrangler, Four-Door
*P5155211 Lift Kit, 2" Lift, 2009 Ram, Crew Cab, Four-Wheel Drive
*P5155075 Lift Kit, 4.5" Lift, Long Arm, 2007-09 Wrangler, Four-Door
Quote:
* Not legal on pollution-controlled vehicles or vehicles registered for highway use.
well, shit. good thing it handles well on road where i am apparently breaking the law by using it?
And the No warranty, warranty clause:
Quote:
NO PARTS WARRANTY – “AS IS”
Mopar Performance parts beginning with a “P” prefi x are sold “as is” unless otherwise noted. This means that parts sold by Mopar Performance carry no warranty whatsoever. Implied warranties, such as warranties of merchantability, are excluded. (An implied warranty of merchantability means that the part is reasonably fi t for the general purpose for which it was sold). The entire risk as to quality and performance of such parts is with the buyer. Should such parts prove defective following their purchase, the buyer and not the manufacturer, distributor or retailer, assumes the entire cost of all necessary servicing or repair. Chrysler, Dodge and Jeep® vehicle and parts warranties are voided if the vehicle or parts are used for competition. The addition of performance parts does not by itself void a vehicle’s warranty. However, added performance parts (parts not originally supplied on the vehicle from the factory) are not covered by the vehicle’s warranty, and any failure that they may cause is also not covered by the vehicle’s warranty.

A: No. In order for your dealer to deny repairs to a break on your Jeep, they would need to prove that the damage was caused specifically by the lift.

This just means that your lift is not covered under the warranty. If your lift kit breaks, you pay for it. But, if something else breaks that is totally unrelated (like the weather seals) they will cover it.

This all gets back to the Mopar lift being exactly like any AM lift in terms of warranty. The Mopar lift even uses the same part numbers as Rubicon Express. RExxxxx. I don't have the time to check but I suspect it's the exact same springs and the statement above is inaccurate.
I checked. It's the same springs. RE1372 and RE1377

Which part is innacurate?
Mopar's own catalog says damage caused by aftermarket parts isnt covered, and the performance parts are considered by them, to be aftermarket. ?
If you can get a dealership to cover things, cool! but it isnt the norm, that's for sure.

My $.02 - get involved with your local offroad club. Find out which dealers are offroad mod friendly. Find a Jeep dealership where the service guys drive moded out Wranglers. Talk to them. Make friends with them. Buy them beer. Much easier than having to take your lawyer with you if you have a warranty issue. Some dealers will make your life miserable no matter what the law says.
Drive your new JK stock for a few thousand miles to allow any defects to pop up and get resolved.
Accept the fact that you may have drivetrain issues if you step up to 37" tires. Do what you can to leave a relatively inexpensive weak link in your drivetrain. U joints are cheap and can be repaced on the trail. And have mercy on your motor and transmission - PLEASE REGEAR!!!

Talked with my dealer today about the Mopar lift kits and other accessories. Their stance on warranty is that if it's a Mopar kit, they will warranty it. If the part is not Mopar, no warranty. This is for everything from intakes to exhaust, lift kits, drop springs, whatever.
But, warranty would not be my concern. Have you seen the cost of these kits?! Holy crap! Even taking dealership pricing vs aftermarket into consideration, it's ridiculous! The 2" levelling lift (as they call it) is $1800! WTF?! It's spacers. That's it. Almost two grand for a spacer lift.
The 4.5" lift kit is $6800. I just about shit when he told me that! No lift is worth $6800. He also mentioned that the kit is vendor shipped to the dealer, meaning that Mopar don't stock it, it is shipped direct from the manufacturer. So I guess if you know who is making the Mopar kit, then you can figure just how much you're getting raped for the Mopar name.
Needless to say, I won't be going with Mopar when I finally lift it!
