Modify LOD Rear Bumper Tire Carrier to open with tailgate?

Modify LOD Rear Bumper Tire Carrier to open with tailgate?
Has anyone tried this mod? I am torn between the LOD and the Expedition One systems.
LOD:
-Has rear lights built in.
-Has integrated 2" reciever hitch
-Less expensive
Expedition One:
-superior "hinge" built on bearings rather than pin (IMO)
- Integrated "STC" smooth motion opening of tailgate and carrier. No 2-step opening process
- Perhaps shorter lead time?
- Rattle free since there is no latch?
I have been leaning towards the LOD but that E1 tailgate opening is sweet. The mechanism isn't too complicated, maybe I could order a LOD and add this on myself? Thoughts...

Nobody has done this or even thought about it?
I talked to Expedition One, they said the do custom work, so maybe if I can get them to do an integrated hitch and lights I'll just go that route. Unless the price is really out there, then I'll be ordering a LOD and trying the mod.

Those pictures are from my bumper/tire carrier that I built from scratch. I now have a 37 in BFG on it and it is still working well. I am not sure if you could modify your LOD since I have not look at one very close. But you can see how I used the hiem joints for the connecting rods. I fab'd a 2 piece plate that bolted onto the tailgate that the connecting rods attach to and strengthens the tailgate also.
