Default Modified Brakes

After almost an accident involving a wet road and another skid car, I want better brakes!
Are there upgraded brake pads for Wrangler?
Should I replace brake rotors?
Any difference between front and rear?

I dont think the jk brakes are bad, but EBC makes some replacement pads with different levels of stopping power

from what i have read, the cross drilled and grooved rotors just collect mud and dirt if you take your rig offroad.

Default Brakes

If I remember correctly the new military spec axles have larger brakes, you may be able to order the parts to do a swap on your axles

IF you really want better brakes and want to spend some money, Camp can install Baer brakes

Crocker Off Road Performance is the first in the country to install a complete Baer Brake System in the 2007 Jeep Wrangler/Unlimited. We use a six piston setup on the front and 2 piston setup on the rear. This brake system is the same setup on the cars you see each Sunday turning left, and is highly recommended with the Hemi SRT8 6.1 liter option. Another COP4X4 Original Design.

Serious question:
If the stock brakes are good enough to lock the wheels and cause the ABS to kick in, what benefit would bigger brakes be? If heating/fading is the issue, is it a factor anywhere but on a race track, where you are accelerating/braking constantly?

I can assure you they don't lock and kick in the ABS at anything over 25mph, leaving a better brake package to have much improved 60-0 distances. EBC is definitely the place to start, and that should be plenty of additional stopping power for most people.

this reminds me, i've been meaning to ask about the stock brakes, do most people find them adequate? especially with lifted knobby tires, thats alot of rotational mass you've got to being to a stop, let alone it's a 2 ton vehicle to begin with before modding.
