Default Modifications to run at High Altitude

I'm planning a week in Colorado. I'll be at 8600 ft for the week. Does anyone have any suggestions on making the jeep run at that altitude? I do have a superchip programmer.
Thanks

I run the 91 tune or the tow tune. Works well.

The higher the altitude, the lower the octane you can run.

I think with your setup listed in profile you will be just fine out here.

Really why's that?

The air is less dense at higher altitudes. Less air into the cylinders has the same effect as lowering the compression ratio. Since there will be less likelihood of pre-ignition, lower octane can be used.

True, true. We can only get 85, 87 and 91 here. I run the tow tune with 87 and have even used 85.

I've had the JK over 8000 feet several times. Apart from reduced power, everything worked fine. The power loss is due to reduced oxygen because of lower atmospheric pressure. It will run a little rich (or they used to before computers) but it doesn't hurt anything.

When you get to high altitude country, you will probably notice that "regular" gas is only 85 octane. As Ron said: "The higher the altitude, the lower the octane you can run."
