For just $130 and 4 hours of my time I installed a TeraFlex Leveling Kit in my driveway with hand tools last week. I can clear my new 33s without problems. I intend on doing mild to moderate wheeling and drive to work.

I agree with one posters advice to not buy a bumper. Search stubby bumper for doing a stubby bumper conversion. Thats my plan.

Where'd you get the kit for $130? Was it hard to install? Did it mess up the stock smooth ride?

Nope won't affect ride just gets rid of front rake. You keep the stock springs and shocks so the ride is not affected. It is also cake to install coils, spacers or shocks on the jk. Hardest part is getting 6hrs to take your time enjoy a beer and work on the jeep. The only expensive tool you NEED for suspension work is a 100 torque wrench and a few jack stands. The rest are just common hand tools.

I started with some 17 sport rims that look like the rubicons and purchased some rubi takeoff tires. Wheeled the shit out of them @ 15 psi and had NO issues with suspension travel or anything. I didn't get stuck at all when I wheeled.

If you're a college kid with no money I would expect you would treat the Jeep as such. It's a phenomenal off road machine but it can break if you're running around beating the shit out of it.

If you're sticking to moderate locations to do your outdoor activities and you don't have to cross Moab rocks to get to that sweet fishing hole, I think you will do just fine with a as close to stock setup. This way you don't have to mess around with swapping parts and adding body lifts yet.

You could also just try to see how stock performs. You may be surprised just how capable it is.

But the Jeep disease will eat you up and make you want more! Good luck!

I'm in the same boat as you, broke college kid, I've just had my JK a little longer. I was wanting to do an extremely moderate set up for mostly camping, kayaking, and fishing. I ended up going with 3in of lift (1in spacers and old man emu coils) 33in tires on stock 17in wheels, stubby bumper up front, and I'm currently saving up for the Gobi stealth roof rack. I love my set up and while it's nothing extreme, always gets me where I need to go and I get tons of complements on it. Hope this helps a little!
