Military Tires
I found some 36.3" military tires for cheap semi-locally. The are power king "super traction" 9.00-16. They are tubless and seem to be bias-ply. I can't find much info about them. on one site they were labled as semi-off road. would or should I be able to run these on my JK or will the ride be too rough? would they be rated for higher speeds? They might be a good investment for a off-road only, while running some smaller for daily driving.
sorry, this first pic is so big. it wouldn't resize

i used to run them 30 years ago, those tires used to be called grand prix rvt's.national tires down here in miami used to carry them.when they were grand prix's i had a few sets of them.i loved them.they were great in the mud, kind of like a ground hawg, but with another lug in the center.they were not that noisy on the street and they seemed to last a long time.i wish i could find another setof them.i used to get the 36 1/2x14x 16.5.back then they only used to make them in 15,16 or 16.5 rim size but the 36 in tire use to be 14 inches wide too.i never had a problem with them.good luck with your choice

Redneck is right those are not "military" tires. That being said the military does use them, as a trailer tire only, they never put them on the actual vehicles, probably for the above mentioned reason.

Sounds like an awesome deal. Quick google search reveals they are a medium truck tire. tbcprivatebrands.com/powerking/viewline.asp?id=107

There's not many rocks here in north Texas. I wonder how they are in the mud?
They recommend a 6.5" rim. my stock jk rim are 7" would they work?

I am actually one of the few out there that like a narrow tire under a Jeep. Looks more Jeepish to me to have skinny tires. (really not that tall either). but anyway. That said. Those tires are only 9" wide!!! That is too skinny even for me. Where are you going to find a 6.5" wide JK tire? I think if you spend the money on those tires you are gonna be sick when you are replacing them in a couple months and trying to give those things away. I bet that D load rating tire rides way rougher than any E load M/T you can find.
I think you would be better off buying a set of blems, or even used tires over that. If you are completely sold on getting a military tire, why don't you look into some of those humvee tires. I think they are all goodyear MTR and Michelins at least. Just my .02
How much do they cost? You could use a couple as a trailer tire. Trailer wheels come in 6.5" width too.

Do yourself a favor and read the number next to the "DOT", the last digits are the datethe tire was manufactured, I would be afraid the tires are old and that's why he is trying to offload them on you. There was an article on here about shops selling tires as new yet they were 7 or more years old. Old tires are much more likely to have a blow out.
