Mile Marker makes good winches. Synthetic line is a good choice. However I would may be get a bigger winch for an unlimited.

I looked at a few, electric and hydraulic. Electric ones included the Mile Marker SEC series, Smittybuilt XRCs, Recon and Warn. Had I gone electric (less than a 0.00000000000000001% chance) I would have bought the Recon or a Mile Marker. That's based on a lot of research through the specs and talking with owners of them (that actually use them). You'd be amazed at the number of recommendations I got from people who rarely--if ever--used their winch and thought it was great.

Whatever you do, definitely go for synthetic line. Much easier to handle and much, much safer to use. I went with Mile Marker's HI9000 hydraulic and immediately replaced the new stock cable with Viking line.

I too went with the hydraulic winch. I have the H10500 installed and I love it.
Replaced the wire with 3/8th AmSteel-Blue rated at 19,600 lb and the 100' I put on only weighs 3.6 lbs.

i picked up a superwinch ep 9.0 for $500 shipped recently. theyve discontinued the ep and epi series for the new talon series so you can find deals. 9000lb might be enough for an unlimited. great amp draw 300-350 at full load i believe. lifetime warranty as well.

You are going to be disappointed when you find out that lifetime means lifetime of the product line. I looked at these winches before I bought a talon and called superwinch and they basically told me when they run out of parts for the epi's there will be no more made. I myself found this hard to believe but I would guess there will still be parts available for ar least a few years. Great winch though

I have the Mile Marker SI9500. Had it for 4 years now. Used it 3 or 4 times. I changed the steel line for Viking's 3/8" Synthetic line. It has worked so far without any problems.

When I bought my JK, it already had a Mile Marker PEC8 winch on it. It has actually worked out really well. I've helped winch at least 3 other people out with it, with no issues. Here's the one from one of our recent trips. Pulling out an Unlimited.

Pulling out another JKU stuck in the mud. (I made him go into the pit and hook himself up. )

I've had a Mile Maker 12,000# hydraulic unit for about 6 years now. Bullet proof.
