Default Mickey Thompson tires

Getting ready to purchase 33x12.50x17 mtz. Have seen some good reviews. Not a whole lot of negative reviews. Any comments before I buy?

I have the 35 inch nitto trail grapplers, but the mtz is an awesome tire as well. Only advice I could give you is make SURE you want 33's for the next 40k miles. There are quite a few people that wished they went 35's. Even I wished I had gone 37's now my wife won't let me get 37's until the 35's wear out....and the mottos wear great. I have 15k on mine and I just measured the depth...got 80% left on them. It's going to be a long wait for me. Either way, I would go MTZ or nitto. I may even go MTZ when these wear out.

One of those mentioned folks that regret not going to 35s. However realised I wanted 37's. So really saved the cost of 35s - 33s since I'll be putting on 37s when I have the cash to regear. Not to mention saved money gas with the 33s. Still geting 18-20 MPG on the interstate.

I have two friends with Mickey thompsons. One with 33 Mtz, and the other has the Baja claws in 33. I can't comment on rock crawling, but in sand and mud the Baja claws are deffinetly an advantage over the Mtz. The Mtz does great, but the Baja claws are NASTY! They look good and ride good on the highway surprisingly. Depending on your application the Baja is something to think about. My friend with the MTZ's is going with 35 in baja's ASAP. If they made the Baja in a 37in radial. I'd be all over it. But again, we aren't rock crawling so the Baja may not be for u. Idk how the Baja is on the rocks. Just FYI

I have 315/70r/17 mtzs & they're great. Have 17000 miles on them & barely any wear. I've done rock crawling mudding big snow drifts & never had a problem with them yet they're amazing tires. & very little chunking & the rocks around here in northern Nevada are pretty jagged. The only bad thing that's happened with them is they don't stand up against a railroad spike but I don't know of many tires that will. They're a great aggressive tire & have a lot of side bite on them. & like everyone has said you might want to look at 35's because you don't want to regret not going bigger. The 315's are almost a 35(34.6) so you may want to look into that .

I have 315/75-16 MTZ's, about 5k on them, 3 wheelin trips, they are excellent so far, fairly quiet and great all around traction.

X2 on 35's! I will be going with MTZ's as soon as my 33's wear out. Not soon enough! Anyway I too have heard great things about these tires.

Thanks for all the comments. I like the idea of 35" but am only doing leveling kit to this jeep and didnt want to get into regearing. Thank you for helping me decide on the mtz.

I love my 37's but if your doing alot of street driving they are pretty soft so they wear down pretty quick compared to some others. Also I made the mistake of not rotating them from front to back and back to front at every oil change so now I have to tires that wore uneven and I have a "wobble wobble wobble" feeling going down the road. Ride amazing on the street and have never let me down on the trail and only airing down to 13-15 psi.
