Are you the first to break one? I'll be interested to hear their thoughts once they see it. I'm guessing they'll want it sent in before they say much.

Doesn't appear to be anything a little duct tape won't fix.

According to them, they have never had a failure. I guess this is the first. They can have it back to look at but we had to weld it back together to get off the trail.

I'm not trying to start a fight or a war, but just trying to get info. I'm assuming every company has had a failure or two. Do you think this is a design flaw??

Yes, they should be using a forged housing like everyone else uses. I think the best route to go is to use a Johnny joint forged end with the metal cloak cartridge for a comfortable ride with a strong housing. Just note that I am on 40's, tons, and don't just run light trails. In no way am I saying that all metal cloak joints are going to fail because of the design they use, I am only stating that it could be better and in fact they can fail.

Do you think your rig setup and driving habits would contribute to cause this??

I have ballistic, johnny joints, and ruff stuff heim joints on my rig. This one failed. The others function just fine. You tell me.

Not on mine, and I have never seen a control arm joint break at the threads to date.

Dirtman's double triangulated setup, one ton axles and 40s probably apply slightly more stress to the joints than a more standard setup The Rubicon Trail as his daily commute might stress them as well.

I agree that the ends should be forged though. However, I don't think it's a concern for the weekend warrior. But, the jury is out.

For the mild weekend crowd that "does not really rock crawl" I think it will be fine, but so would the factory control arms and joints.
