Default Mesh Bikini/Island Topper Tops?

Going topless/doorless for summer ('10 Sahara Unlimited). Looking into the Bestop or Rugged Ridge Mesh tops for summertime, supposedly block UV, keep sun off insides, but still allow an open type of feel...

Nay experiences/thoughts about these vs. non-mesh bikini type tops?

Not sure if they block out UV light but have you checked out Spiderweb Shades? It basically cover over the top to block out the sun but eveything else is still wide open. Easy to put on and it can actaully stay on when your soft top is up.

I replaced my Bestop with a Dirty Dog. good thing about Dirty Dog or Spiderweb is that you can put the top up without removing the mesh top.
I can tell you the mesh will keep you cooler than a solid top, or no top. the solid ones seem to hold the heat, and no top lets the sun just beat down on you.
I was OK with the Bestop, just took a little finnese to get it on and looking good

I put the 2-piece Dirty Dog sun screen on my 4-DR JK last summer and it made a huge difference here in Atlanta, I highly recommend it for cooling the temperatures in the front and the back. It hardly knocked the wind down at all though, I was hoping for a liittle more. I'd love to find something that drops the wind that comes up from the rear of the jeep without impairing the rear view mirror view.

Default dirty dog

just installed my dirty dog 2pc sun screen and i love it! Dramatically reduces the heat and blocks 70% uv rays. nice tight fit, easy to install, works with either top and still allows a lot of air flow.
visibly flaps a little at highway speeds but is totally quiet.
highly recommend

I've got the Spiderweb top over my 4dr. One of the best tops I've ever had. It's quiet, doesn't flap, looks great and keeps us much cooler

Default Spiderweb rocks

I also have the spiderweb on my 4 dr. It is MUCH more convienant than a regular bikini because if you need the softtop you just flip it up over the spiderweb. Totally quiet, looks good and makes the jeep MUCH cooler during hot kansas summers.

I just bought the Bestop Mesh Bikini Top but haven't put it on yet. We'll be getting some rain here over the weekend so I'll probally put it on next weekend and let you know what I think. I must say that I was a little disappointed with how large the mesh is. I was hoping for a tighter weave like a screen or something. But I'll reply after I have it on.
