Default Melted idler pulley and worn tensioner roller

Let's start off by listing my Jeep
2010 3.8 33s 4:10 45,000 miles and most important to mention is

Ripp Gen 2 super charger

It's daily driven by the wifey and she has a very light commute and light foot.

2 weeks ago I get a call from her that power steering stopped and she had to rush off the freeway.

I went over and find a slipped serp belt.
Wasn't busted or too badly damaged.
Upon further inspection the idler pulley was pretty much melted and the tensioner roller was starting to show signs of heat wear.

When the ripp was installed 2 years ago everything on the belt lined up perfectly. Except for the idler, it was favoring the back side of the roller, but 100% on the roller still.

I believe the super charger belt bearings we're wearing out and began giving the belt too much resistance... So that lead the heat on the belt which is partially to blame. So I rebuilt both of those with better bearings. Instead of paying ripp 300$ for 2 new ones I fixed them for 24$
(4 bearings x 6$)

Back the the Mopar parts

I decided since this is going to be her daily for at the rest of the year. I wanted to make sure it would last and not put her or the motor in Danger again.

My dad is a 35 year machine shop R&D manager .

So the job went to him.
I wanted to build some aluminum rollers that would not fail because of heat.
I looked after market but didn't find any help for our particular vehicle.

So we got to work in the garage.
Fully rebuild able 7075 aluminum idler pulley was the task.

Found a local bearing supplier and got the exact bearing but in a Japanese brand and build.(vs. tiawan)

We made 2 sizes...one for the idler pulley (extra wide) and the other for the tensioner pulley (exact size as stock)

End result
Some badass aluminum pulleys.
Everything fit perfect and had clearance around the intercooler tubing and the block.
Belt now sits more centered on the idler pulley and tensioner is working as normal.

I'll post pictures when I get home. The app is super slow

Those pictures are of the first cut and fit. After that we knocked weight off by shedding unnecessary material and drilling a few 8 holes for weight reduction as well.

I've never driven a jeep with a sprintex but I could say. That I got a great deal on the ripp and actually dont have many complaints.

They answer my calls ,..answer questions. This forced induction thing has a learning curve but they have been as helpful as they could be I guess....

My only issue is that I believe the tuning end is not well ran. It could use adjusting and changes. But over all it's a good daily driver....just don't get driving up a hill because it's going to blow air into the motor like crazy to get it to go.

I will say the high altitude pulley did help bit still left room for improvement.

Maybe since you are pretty close by we could meet up and you let me drive your sprintex!!
