max weight on a stock tire carrier?
I have recently upgraded to Goodyear Wrangler DuraTrac 315/70/17 with AEV salta Wheels, Tire weight is around 60 pounds, and the wheel weighs about 25 pounds. I was wondering if anybody knows the max weight I can put on the stock tire carrier? Or if anyone is running that combo on their carrier?
Thanks
Thanks

I saw this the other day and that's just on the Jeep Liberty's. I'd say for the JK platform that it's probably a pretty considerable amount.....

NOTE: If you have added aftermarket accessories to the
spare tire mounted carrier, it cannot exceed a gross weight
of 50 lbs (23 kg) including the weight of the spare tire.

If you like popped rivets on the tailgate then load up the stock carrier as the last post suggests. Some get away with a 34/35" on the back while others don't. Place tubing in those rubber stoppers to quell vibration if the tires don't make contact. Best to have heavy duty tire carrier or throw spare in the back. Future posts will claim it's OK : then they get tire carriers after their tailgate rattles. If you don't go off-road, drive on smooth roads then your odds are better of a rattle free tailgate, for a while.

RONJENX answered the specific question. I'm copying my post from a different thread, my advice, you need a new spare carrier ......
A forum search for "popped tailgate welds" will show a number of JKs with similar to mine below. Took just a couple of weeks for the welds to break, the damage isn't disasterous but further use of 35" tires on the stock tailgate would only tear-up the tailgate further.
The ONLY answer to running a spare 35" or larger on the stock tailgate is NOT to !!
If you must, run without a spare until can afford an integrated rear bumper with tire carrier, new or used. I carried an air compressor and tire plug kit while saving and waiting.
The tailgate has 15 spot welds running horizontal left to right 2 inches from the top, and 5 running vertically near the center. Within a couple weeks the 5 vertical spot welds popped, detatching the inner tailgate skin from the outer skin. The center three spot welds are now detached and recessed over 1mm, implying the additional spare tire weight pulled the outer skin out. Some others had the horizontal welds pop, mine were just the vertical spot welds.

I'm curious, anyone know what Jeep did to allow more weight ? Re-inforced welds ? additional bracing ?
