Default Max Tire Size without lift/spacers

I have an Unlimited with 17" tires and interested in upgrading tires (will stay with A/T) while not lifting or using spacers. I know folks that have put on 285's have experienced modest rubs, and 265's probably should work, though ending up with a slightly smaller diameter (265/70/17). Anyone have experience with 275/70/17 size. This would retain 32" size. Thanks

I have the 255/85R16 Maxxis Bighorn tires on the stock 16x7 rims with no lift. I have fully flexed out the suspension with the front sway bar disconnected and there was no rubbing. There was not problem at full turn either. These tires, according to the manufactures specs, are 33.3" tall and 10.3" wide on a 7" rim. As you stated there has been reported rubbing with the 285 width. So I think width is the major problem for you with no lift.
