Making Soft Doors???
Hello all,
I've been lurking for a while and figured I'd finally post something. Since who knows when we'll be able to buy these, I've been pondering the possibility of making my own wire door frames (with separate uppers and lowers), then having a canvas shop make the skins for it. I Just wanted to know if anyone else has done this or thought about it? I have access to a machine/metal shop, so it doesn't *seem* like it would be that difficult...Am I missing something?
TIA for any advice/input,
Brian

hansonian,
I believe you can buy the uppers from trademotion for about $200.00 a piece. I haven't researched what a canvas/marine shop would charge to make these yet...Anyone out there work for one and could give a rough estimate?
As for latches, I was thinking of using the Paddle Handle Latch Kit for the TJ's. They sell for around $60.00 for a pair.

I called the dealer last week to price the half door uppers...
They are $250 for the driver's side, and $340 for the passengers side. I was thinking of using the Warrior Diamond plate aluminum black doors and factory uppers, but that will run almost a grand, and there isn't a way to attach the uppers yet. I guess all we can do is wait for the $414 doors from Bestop.

^ arent the bestop doors available now... i am sure i ahve seen them before
i am going to fab some up in the next few months, using the bestop soft doors as a model, and the monster in law is a seamstress, so i will skin them with some black denim or something. not gonna bother with the uppers.
i will post something up when i get them done
