lsd locker question

I assume you have an Auburn Ected in the rear axle. Make sure you are in the locked mode as much as possible. The gear design inside is very tough on axle shafts.

I was talking about having the locker engaged as much as possible. In the unlocked mode the axle is being twisted by about 9/16" of side gear engagement. In a high torque, unlocked, situation the Ected is known to strip the end off of the axle shaft.

Put the transmission in neutral, parking brake off.
Jack up one rear tire.
Try to rotate the jacked up tire.
If it takes less than 30 ft/lbs to turn the tire, the LSD is worn out.
You will have to figure out how to check the torque, since I have no idea what you have for tools.

I guess I misinterpreted what you were getting at because I know its not good to drive everyday with the rear locked because then the back tires will be fighting at every corner. They both try to go the same speed (the point of a locker) when in reality the inside tire needs to go slow and the outside one needs to scoot.
