Default Lower forty: 40 inches on lowest lift project

Hi all,

The title sums it all.

Lower forty:

I love the idea of having big wheels without a crazy lift.
I understand that a lot of frame work is required to acheive a 40inch no lift setup.

In my case, I'm willing to trade lift against work/cost.
I already have a 2.5 inch lift on my 2 door 2008 Rubicon.
I'm running 35inch right now and willing to go with 40s.

What mods would I require to make it happen on 2.5inch?

Thanks

Lets not forget potential preventatives such as regearing, tougher axle, stabilizers, etc...personally i love the look of that and i wanna see the results if you do it. Awesome idea.

What Karl said. Look for some serious flat fenders or fender kits that will allow the largest size tire, and go from there. I'm sure you're going to need a stubby bumper and many washers for the steering stops or you'll eat your own front end. If you plan to off road it then also get some serious bump stops.

Or you could lift it with the low center of gravity kits, (like Xtreme 4x4's samari) and make it so that the suspension doesn't sit high, but it travels at an insane amount.

Forget the preventatives and see how long it lasts. Might want to at least look into a procal though.

Parts needed:

Dana 60 axels
Hydro assist
Flat flares/fenders (MetalCloaks)
driving shaft (depend on the lift)?
Re-gearing (don't need procal module after that I guess?)
Stuby bumper
Bumpstop adjust
Lower/upper arms
...

What more?

I start reading Planman posts and learned a lot.

karls10jk: yes lifted but only 2.5 inch so adjustable front lower arm only.

I'm curious, what are the plus/minus of body lift vs suspension lift?
Would it be better to get 3.5 suspension lift or keep my current 2.5 and go with 1" of body lift?

For those interested, here is my current ride:
