so I finally got my garage door opener mod done I decided that I wanted to hide the button more than others have so I used the hole where that little plastic clip with the Philips head on it is pulled that out reamed the hole to be able to fit the back end of the switch wired the wires into my garage door opener by soldering them and then soldered on the switch I used some industrial velcro and the garage door opener actually sits right up on the plastic part towards the top out of sight this cost me a total of $4.22 at Radio Shack for the switch some wire that I had laying around and of course some velcro or you could use double sided tape the best part is I could just cut the wires off of the garage door opener and the opener can still work without the little push button switch

So I've gotten through a little over 100 pages of this thread. I've done the foam dash canyon fill, drilled side view holes, mag light on drivers seat mount, fire extinguisher on passenger seat mount, wiper fluid hose wrapped around radiator hose for heated fluid, removed the hood spring, added fuel line to the weatherstrip under hood to prevent flutter, painted the dash vents, sound bar speaker grills, and instrument cluster white to match, and some others I'm sure I'm forgetting. I swapped out the antenna with a stubby antenna x model, but didn't like the loss of reception (can get a good Canadian station here) and it was a bit too stubby (gave me a complex). So I installed an antenna x because style radio antenna. It doesn't go above the roof line (few inches shorter) and it thicker and has a great look! This is such a great thread that has so many great ideas that keep me from waking up with a French knife in my chest for spending too much money on my Jeep. Jeep, 2 Harley's, and a firearm habit to boot. I sure am an expensive date! Thanks guys!

If your opener is the same as mine and the big button is the one you use to open your garage door you can look at the picture basically I tried using my meter while pushing the button and holding the Damn battery in turns out I'm 2 hands short so I took a small piece of wire and jumped (touched with the wire)one side of the switch to the other top to top and bottom to bottom (soldered pieces on the back of the board where the switch mounts) neither worked so I tried diagonal and it worked so I soldered my leads on those 2 posts then tested by touching the leads together the light lit up and garage door started so I put the switch in and soldered the leads to the switch tested again and reinstalled you will need to drill out the metal hole that the little Philips head clip goes into so the end and leads of the switch have room to poke into the hole
Also if your opener is the same you can wire the battery terminals to the jeeps 12 volt system so you never have to replace a battery or wire it to the ignition switch so the key has to be on to use it giving you even more piece of mind that it can't be used to break into your house while you are sleeping
